Maha’s Cafe is a cozy spot tucked into the Leslieville area of Toronto, accessed through a back entrance on Carlaw Avenue (or Greenwood if coming from that side, where the front is actually a clothing store). This tucked-away feeling spills into the atmosphere — inviting but quietly tucked off the main strip, it’s a place where locals seem to settle in for both quick stops and lingering moments.

The vibe inside balances sunlit comfort with casual sophistication. Large windows flood the space with natural light, complementing the warm, understated decor that makes it easy to relax whether you’re working remotely or catching up with friends. There are plenty of seating options, making it functional for solo visits as well as small groups. The presence of solid wifi supports the café’s appeal as a casual daytime spot for remote work or study, without feeling too sterile.

On the menu, the café leans into approachable, well-crafted drinks and light bites with a touch of Middle Eastern influence. Drinks like the Honey Cardamom Latte stand out for offering something a bit different from your typical coffee shop fare. Regulars also highlight the Fresh Lemon and Ginger Tea and the Limonata as refreshing choices. Food-wise, the Egyptian Falafel and the Betengan sandwich (eggplant, beet, and hummus) draw attention for their play on traditional flavors with a contemporary twist. There’s also an assortment of pastries, salads like Baba Ganoush, and grab-and-go sandwiches that suit a quick weekday break or a casual brunch hour.

The service feels personable and attentive without being overbearing — a consistent thread in recent visits and reviews. Staff know the menu, offer thoughtful substitutions when items run short, and create a welcoming environment so customers leave feeling recognized. This quality of interaction highlights Maha’s as more than just a transactional stop but a place where visitors feel a sense of belonging.

Maha’s Cafe is particularly well-suited for anyone looking for a neighborhood respite that balances quality coffee and inspired small plates with an atmosphere that encourages staying a while. Mornings and early afternoons seem ideal: natural light is at its best, and the café’s energy strikes a balance between lively and laid-back. Whether you’re popping in for a Honey Cardamom Latte to go, lingering over a salad and tea, or grabbing a quick roast beef sandwich, Maha’s fits comfortably into the local rhythm of Leslieville life.

One of my favourite cafes in Toronto, love the atmosphere with all that natural light and the cozy decor. Conveniently they have a selection of sweets, sandwiches, and other ready made grab-and-go items. The Egyptian Falafel (soft boiled eggs surrounded by crispy falafel) is a must in my opinion. I adore the Honey Cardamom latte (available both iced or hot), and if you're dining in I recommend ordering the Cairo Classic. A smaller version of the one you’d get at the restaurant, this Egyptian Breakfast is centered around Foole – flavourful, slow cooked fava beans and served with a side of falafel, pita, salad, and tomato feta. I'm not usually one to order a Grilled Cheese, but theirs is so good. Made with a blend of Gouda, Havarti, and Swiss cheese, this sandwich is also filled with the sweetest dates and is drizzled with honey.

If you’re entering from Greenwood the entrance is a clothing store, but you walk in and to the back to get to the cafe. Great atmosphere, super tasty food. The service was courteous and friendly. My group all got different drinks and food, all were tasty. They had run out of some items that my friend wanted but our waiter was super attentive and was doing their best to suggest alternatives. I got the Mona Lisa (drink) with decaf espresso, the waiter warned me that the latte art is not as crisp with decaf but it still looked good! I also got the Egyptian beet salad. It didn’t fill me up as it was meant to be a snack but it was very refreshing and delicious. Would recommend and go again!

I love Mahas Cafe! Whenever I go on vacation to Toronto, I always make time to visit it. I love their food, hot and cold drinks, and the excellent service that the staff always provides. Many thanks to Valentina and Rodrigo for their outstanding service. I highly recommend the hot chocolate and the always fresh hummus—it's a must-try. Without a doubt, I'll be back! :)

One of the still mostly hidden gems of the Leslieville neighbourhood is this cafe edition of the popular brunch spot Maha’s. with a smaller menu that’s more grab and go style, and a cute ambiance it’s a great place for a quick weekday or weekend stop for a coffee and a quick bite. We had the Betengan, a truly delicious eggplant, beet and hummus sandwich and the Lahma Barda aka the roast beef sandwich. The eggplant was served warm and the roast beef was served cold. Would definitely recommended the eggplant with its dreamy cumin flavours, the roast beef I’d skip to try some of the other offerings. You also got yummy Sam James coffee served here so you can’t go wrong with the coffee!

Great location (enter through the back), good food, and SUCH excellent service. If you’re looking for a local cafe where the servers treat you like family, you must visit! They have good wifi connection for a remote-work session, and many seating options.

In all honesty, despite literally everybody I know having been to Maha's on Greenwood, I never went. I simply am not interested in standing in line for food, no matter how great it may be. So, when I saw this place opened, I figured it was worth a shot one day. Even other locals hadn't heard that Maha's had opened a sister location, mostly because from Queen, you have to walk through a (very cool) clothing shop to find it. There is a sidewalk sign out front, but if you're not careful you may miss it. It was... well, if the OG location is like this, I can understand the queue. It was absolutely delicious. Every single thing I tried was delectable. From the coffee, to the eggs, to the pastries, EVERYTHING. I normally don't like flavoured drinks, but their special Honey Cardamom Latte was very good. The space is really cosy too with plenty of seating indoors and on a somewhat hidden patio at the back. The décor is cute, comfy, bright, and a bit vintage. Honestly, it's an awesome time. I'm so glad they opened this spot.

I love this cafe. The drinks are the best espresso drinks in the Leslieville neighbourhood. Their special lattes are really worth a try. I love the honey cardomom and the hazelnut latte. They also make an excellent hot chocolate. The staff is always super friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. I have also tried the falafel balls and the honey-date grilled cheese and they were both delicious.
